QuickBooks Pro is one of the leading personal finance software packages which also covers business transactions in its Pro and other advanced versions. The software can help the user create numerous accounts to handle transactions across a range of business accounts.
New sales, financial and tax elements can all be correctly accounted for when using QuickBooks Pro. Business invoices can be generated directly from inside the software which can produce a printed or emailed invoice for a business customer, plus the invoice can be entered into the sales ledger at the same time. Tax records can also be correctly accounted for. Manage vendors and related expenses for each vendor. Track spending on vendors and projects.
Create estimates, invoices and revised statements to keep track of everything. The Income Tracker can help manage both receivables and income. Online banking transactions can also be downloaded directly to save time manually entering each bank transaction. The Company Snapshot is also useful to get an overview of how the business is doing. There are useful step-by-step tutorials to take the user through each procedure to add new accounts, create invoices, manage multiple accounts, run reporting, and more.
NET 4. The interface for QuickBooks Pro uses a flowchart-type interface with lines that connect related modules. Therefore, one can click on the "Enter Bills" icon to create a new bill. There is then a line pointing downwards to the "Create Invoices" icon, and a second line pointing right to the "Pay Bills" icon. There is a logical process to the interface, so the user would enter the bill first, then click to pay the bill, rather than write the check which has a separate icon the reason for this is that the program will not know that the check being written for the same company applies to the bill already received from that company.
At the top of the interface is a menu system and some large toolbar buttons. However, much of the navigation is performed within the main area with the intersecting lines and action icons.
The interface will take quite a while to get used to, as will learning how each process works and in which order to use them. A training course, possibly on video, is likely to be a good idea when learning QuickBooks Pro for the first time.
Sage 50 Premium Accounting is an alternative accounting package. Sage has a number of different versions of their accounting software. The Premium Accounting version offers business accounting support. HomeBank is an interesting alternative for home and business accounts which is cross-platform with versions available for Windows, Mac and Linux. GNUCash is a third option, available for free, which is capable of full accounting functions and is also cross-platform.

I find Quick Books to be a fairly robust and yet reasonably easy to use product that meets my business needs. I did all the tedious work of forms layout in the early years, so I can't say what that task is like in the version, but I've had no problems with compatability going forward for numerous upgrades.
I like the layout of the screens in the new version better than the , but it is a little slower starting in MS Vista. The only reason I rated Quick Books four star, is the lack of quality support. I remember when you could get Intuit on the phone to report bugs and suggest improvements, but they took away telephone support many years ago. Now you have to rely on the internet, and slog through hours of searching for solutions online and in blogs, many of which are useless or completely wrong.
For practical purposes, Quick Books remains the only game in town, as far as I know. When I was first starting out I considered other products, but the learning curve they required was far more than I could afford then or now.
Quick Books has to be mastered, but is not too hard to learn and work with. I would recommend Quick Books to someone starting a small business, or someone needing more robust functions quotes, invoicing, customer lists, inventory, etc than a simple checkbook financial software can offer. I have some errors in my data file left over from about six or eight years ago, which none of the previous versions could fix and neither could I.
I have not tried to fix them in this version, but will try soon and submit an update to this review. Top critical review. They drop features every few years so users are forced to upgrade, even though my very small business doesn't otherwise warrant it.
Intuit is in a class by itself when it comes to ripping off customers. We were forced off of to as their payroll support ended. They went from a spectacularly refined workspace to something that looks like it was made for a kindergartener. Everything has huge print and big stupid tabs and is visually painful. Quickbooks really was the industry standard and this is just painful to use.
The amount column is always off screen, not resizable and requires scrolling around all the time. Employee center, for example, still has 3 tabs, but the payroll tab itself has 3 tabs. So checking for due liabilities requires more clicking and searching than in the older better version where it was obvious what was due.

Yours may very. I upgraded from which had its own issues. I followed all of the guides for preparing your files for the update. Rebuilding is a mysterious process where some of your data my be tossed, but you won't know what. QBooks is extremely vague on the subject. It's really surprising that after decades now, an accounting program still routinely corrupts its own data.
Windows lets you increase the general font size through the Display control panel. That's great if you have a very high resolution display. It's also intended to help people who are disabled and need larger fonts for poor vision. QuickBooks has a new look! And it does NOT work with anything but the smallest font setting in Windows Intuit says so - buried in a tech spec. You won't see "Class" for example when writing checks or entering in the register.
This is just pathetic incompetent programming. I can't think of a single other program I use that had a problem with larger fonts which have been available in Windows for YEARS and worked fine with the older QB versions.
Numerous minor bugs introduced years ago continue. For example, if you have the vendor list open and write a check to that vendor not an unusual thing to do! You have to close and re-open the list to see it again with the check you just wrote now in the transaction list too. This was probably a completely BassAckwards hack by a programmer who couldn't figure out how to update the vendor transaction list so just closed the vendor instead.
Intuit has known about this bug for some time. I'm sure many others have complained about Intuit's forced upgrade policy they arbitrarily switch off features like online banking after 3 years to make you upgrade - even if the feature hasn't changed. An interesting thing about that: They don't make you upgrade till May. The conventional wisdom is that Intuit won't have patched up their latest version to make it workable till May. Unfortunately it often takes them longer.
Sometimes years longer. They do have a nice user interface when it works though. One person found this helpful. The good is that this works on my Windows XP desktop. The bad is that for a few extras you are forced once again to deal with a new design. It's familiar but just different enough to be jarring and a pain spending the extra time to find what you want.
For example in you doubled clicked on a customer and all the info was on one screen or on the notes screen. Now it's spread in a few places. You have to constantly widen the notes screen to be able to read them. Some secondary contacts and longer notes were lost while updating my company file. I'll get used to it soon enough but it would be great if Quickbooks added extra functionality without reworking the appearance. I can't believe testers found this version an improvement.
